Dust off your bike helmet and check your tire pressure, then select a route from the Google Map below that sets you in the right direction of you worksite. (Click the picture to open the map)
If you don’t feel comfortable riding alone, don’t let that stop you. Contact your worksite leader to access worksite-specific Google Groups in which you can communicate with fellow volunteers and organize a group ride to the worksite.
On April 19th, Pedal Instead will be at Goodale Park with their bike corral. Pedal Instead is perhaps best described as a “coat check for bicycles” located near the entrance of major Columbus-area festivals and special events. Cyclists ride their bikes to the event and University Area Enrichment Association (UAEA) volunteers park them for free in an enclosed space, monitoring them while the cyclist enjoys their experience. Volunteers, who have collected data from cyclists on the number of miles they’ve ridden to an event, then compile it into a report and calculate the pounds of CO2 emissions they’ve helped to prevent. In the 2008 season, UAEA parked 3871 bikes at 20 events, preventing 41,173 miles from being driven and 39,345 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere!
