Picture This: a good spirited competition to see which organizations will send out the most volunteers.
The Earth Day Challenge Cup, presented by NetJets, is a commemorative trophy that will recognize the company, non-profit organization and school and that send out the most volunteers to April 18th Earth Day 2009: Picture This worksites. Each volunteer that registers through this website will have a chance to claim affiliations with their school, place of business and favorite non-profit organizations. We will then tally the numbers and declare a winner for each category at the celebration on April 19th.
The challenge cup trophy is made completely of glass bottles recycled from local bars and restaurants. Weisenbach Recycled Products collects the glass and uses local artist, Daniel Schreiber, to produce unique glass sculptures and awards. The challenge cup sits on a base of wood, which was recovered from a demolished building. The names of the company, non-profit organization and school that send out the most volunteers to Picture This worksites will be recorded on the base. The winners will also take home a recycled glass plaque commemorating their accomplishment.
The Challenge Cup trophy was debuted at March Green Drinks, which was held at BoMA on Thursday, March 19.
